چکیده

At the atomic-cluster scale, pure boron is markedly similar to carbon, forming simple planar molecules and cage-like fullerenes. Theoretical studies predict that two-dimensional (2D) boron sheets will adopt an atomic configuration similar to that of boron atomic clusters. We synthesized atomically thin, crystalline 2D boron sheets (i.e., borophene) on silver surfaces under ultrahigh-vacuum conditions. Atomic-scale characterization, supported by theoretical calculations, revealed structures reminiscent of fused boron clusters with multiple scales of anisotropic, out-of-plane buckling. Unlike bulk boron allotropes, borophene shows metallic characteristics that are consistent with predictions of a highly anisotropic, 2D metal.

Wettability of boron monolayer using molecular dynamics simulation method

Over the past years, two-dimensional materials such as graphene, phosphorene, silicene, and boron-nitride have attracted the attention of many researchers. After the successful synthesis of graphene, due to its many new applications, researches began to produce nanosheets from other elements, and among these elements, boron was one of the options. In the periodic table of elements, boron is ahe...

Competition between drum and quasi-planar structures in RhB18-: motifs for metallo-boronanotubes and metallo-borophenes.

Metal-doped boron clusters provide new opportunities to design nanoclusters with interesting structures and bonding. A cobalt-doped boron cluster, CoB18-, has been observed recently to be planar and can be viewed as a motif for metallo-borophenes, whereas the D9d drum isomer as a motif for metallo-boronanotubes is found to be much higher in energy. Hence, whether larger doped boron drums are po...

B27(-): Appearance of the smallest planar boron cluster containing a hexagonal vacancy.

Photoelectron spectroscopy and ab initio calculations have been carried out to probe the structures and chemical bonding of the B27 (-) cluster. Comparison between the experimental spectrum and the theoretical results reveals a two-dimensional (2D) global minimum with a triangular lattice containing a tetragonal defect (I) and two low-lying 2D isomers (II and III), each with a hexagonal vacancy...

Properties, Application and Synthesis Methods of boron nitride Powder: A Review

h-BN is a multipurpose ceramic material, with exceptional properties and a wide area of application in industry. It is structurally similar to graphite and it resists oxidation to higher temperatures than graphite. It is used in powder form as a mold release agent in metal casting, as a high temperature lubricant or even in cosmetics. hBN can be shaped by hot-pressing and is used as molds or cr...
